Hello, fellow Flippers.

That's right. You're reading this, which means you've become a part of the financial flipping community. (Aren't you excited?!)

My name is Kyle, and I'm the founder and certified financial coach behind "Financial Flippers." And this is my first blog ever.

I didn't grow up learning about money. In fact, like most households when I was younger, money wasn't really a topic we discussed. It was ... well ... personal. I guess that's why we call it "personal finance." But what this meant is that I would have to figure it out on my own. For so many years I was afraid of talking about money. I was afraid to ask for help. But all of that came from a place of me not knowing how to talk about money. I was never taught about money.

My major in college was Music Theater, with a minor in dance. Musical theater was always what I dreamed of doing professionally. So naturally, I was going to go to school for it. Now, when you go into a field like theater, you're constantly given the "It's not a field you go into for the money," speech. But that's not a fair statement. I know that now. See, I accepted pursuing music theater knowing I probably wasn't going to make a lot of money. But what this mindset did to me was create this submission inside myself that I would never have any money ... that I would never be financially stable - which is a VERY different (and dangerous) mindset to have. And I accepted that as my truth. So I began my career as a professional performer who never had financial stability. I mean, after all, that's what I had agreed to when I pursued a career I loved, right?

Cut to the end of 2017 when my wife (also a performer) and I were starting to really feel the consequences of our financial decisions. We were starting to drown. And we needed help. We needed a plan. Because, if we had kept going on the same path, we would have lost everything. We decided we weren't going to let that happen. So in January of 2018, my wife and I started taking back control of our finances ... one day at a time, one paycheck at a time. And over the following 26 months, we not only changed our lives forever, but we also paid off all of our non-mortgage debt ... all $114,000 of it. Now, if American Express calls our house, it's a wrong number. No more student loans. No more car payments. No more being slaves to the misguided financial decisions we'd made. We were free. Finally.

...told you. ;)

I was 32 years old when I made my very first budget. But it worked. We took control of our money. And we were finally free.

During this process, I started helping others. And now, that's become my mission: to help people flip the script of their financial story and live the life they want doing what they love. And that's why I call it "Financial Flippers."

Let me be the one to tell you that your career choice does not dictate your financial stability. You do. But let me clarify that financial stability doesn't mean you have tens of millions of dollars. Financial stability doesn't mean you "have a good job." Financial stability means you're in control. It means your bills are all paid. It means you know where your money is going. You have savings - because you have short-term goals. You are investing - because you have long-term goals. And you have an emergency fund - because life happens.

Financial stability gives you your life back.

If you learn how to handle your money, you can be successful with any career you choose. Period. I truly believe this. And that's what this blog is meant to remind you of - because I've been there. I've been in that spot where you feel as though you've made a huge mistake by giving your life to a career that will forever dictate your financial situation.

Your passion is more powerful than you think. You are more powerful than you think.

So what do you think? Are you a financial flipper?
